The school year is right around the corner. Are you prepared?

Summer 2025 is in full swing, but for some, classes have already begun (or are being continued). As you and your peers get ready for another exciting year ahead, we've compiled a few tips to help you prep for classes or clinics to resume!
  • Renew your SAVMA dues.  The SAVMA dues site is open now for returning students to be able to pay their dues.  This will be one of the things you can have done before life gets crazy on campus this fall. New this year, check the box on your SAVMA Dues payment site to confirm that you want your veterinary student professional liability coverage.  Does your school pay your SAVMA dues on your behalf?  No problem.  You can also sign up for coverage by visiting www.avmaplit.com/students and click on the APPLY button or look for sign up events at your school.
  • Update your contact information. Summer is often a time of change. Did you move, change your name or have other big changes?  Be sure to update your SAVMA membership information AND your account at www.avmaplit.com.
  • Be sure you're protected. In addition to your veterinary student professional liability coverage, now is your opportunity to enroll in VetSTEPP.  This program, designed specifically for veterinary students, can help eligible SAVMA members offset the cost of rabies vaccinations and even titers as well as provide replacement income in the event of a covered injury or illness that takes you away from your veterinary studies.  This coverage is available with no medical questions as you start the new academic year (Hurry, this only lasts for 45 days after the start of classes).  Learn more about the coverage and find your representative by visiting www.avmalife.org.
  • Enjoy! Take time to smell the roses, the puppy breath, the horse manure or whatever you are enjoying this summer.  Our team is excited to see you on campus soon. Here are a few photos of our summer adventures. Remember to take some photos of your own to share with us this fall during our OUTSTANDING in the field photo contest on Instagram.  Check us out in the meantime @avmatruststudents.
